No one wants to have a tooth extraction, but there are times when it cannot be avoided. A severely damaged or diseased tooth that cannot be repaired can be very painful if left to fall out on its own. Tooth extractions can quickly remove a problem tooth. In most cases, the procedure can be done in one brief visit. We offer sedation options for those who prefer extra help relaxing during the removal process. Many extractions can be done in a matter of minutes once the area is numbed with local anesthesia.
Most teeth that need removal are damaged, infected or have other issues. Wisdom teeth are brand new teeth that rarely have decay or damage, but they can cause other problems. These last molars can become impacted in the gums or grow the wrong direction when limited space is available in the jaw. Removing them can prevent misalignment, infection, pain and other problems that occur with wisdom teeth that do not come in correctly.
