What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are small posts that are made from biocompatible materials like zirconia and titanium. They are placed below your gumline, within the jawbone, to restore the missing root structure of one or more teeth. After naturally fusing with the bone, they are able to act as a strong and immovable foundation for any type of restoration, including a free-standing crown, bridge, or denture.
The 4-Step Dental Implant Process

- Consultation: The first step of every dental implant treatment is a consultation, which includes an examination, cone beam CT scan, one-on-one discussion with Dr. Haydon, and treatment planning.
- Placement: After you’re deemed a good candidate for treatment and decide to move forward with your treatment plan, the next step is surgery. Dr. Haydon is able to place dental implants in-house due to his advanced training.
- Healing: After your surgery, you will undergo a healing and osseointegration process, where your implants will fuse with your jawbone. This process takes three to six months, but many patients can return to work within a couple of days after their surgery.
- Restoration: After your implants have fused with your jawbone and the abutments (small metal connector pieces that attach to your implants) have been placed, we will be able to attach your custom-crafted replacement teeth and complete your smile!
The Benefits of Dental Implants

- Longevity: Dental implants are one of the most durable dental treatments available, with an average lifespan of 20 years and longer.
- Stability: They are much more stable than traditional bridges and dentures, plus they support the jawbone from within to prevent it from weakening over time.
- Strength: Compared to regular prosthetics, implants restore much more of a patient’s bite force, letting them eat whatever they like without a second thought.
- Aesthetic: With no metal or acrylic attachments necessary, implants are virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth.
