What Happens During a Root Canal?
The root canal treatment process takes place over the course of two appointments. During this first one, Dr. Haydon will create a small hole in the crown of the affected tooth (after you have been thoroughly numbed). This will give him access to the inner chamber, allowing him to remove the infected pulp and sanitize the area. To rebuild the tooth’s structure, he will place an antimicrobial substance called gutta-percha and top it off with a temporary crown. After your permanent crown comes to us from the dental laboratory, we will have you come back for your second appointment to place it.
